BHT
Medium RiskBHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) is a lipophilic antioxidant used to protect oils from oxidation. Animal studies at high (primarily oral) doses show liver enzyme induction and related biochemical changes; endocrine-screening lines of evidence have also been evaluated in regulatory reviews. Pregnancy-specific human outcome data for topical cosmetic exposure are limited; the key signal is systemic toxicology at higher exposures and uncertainty for pregnancy-specific outcomes.
