A little help from MamaSkin

IVF due date calculator

Start with your embryo transfer date and age at transfer. We’ll work out the calendar estimate.

Start with your dates

Use an actual or planned transfer date, rather than egg collection.

The same calculation applies to fresh and frozen transfers. For another embryo age, use your clinic’s dates.

A transfer date and embryo age are all you need.

Dating from your transfer

IVF comes with enough dates to keep track of. Your transfer gives a more specific starting point than a last period, because the embryo’s age is known. You can use this estimate for planning and keep your clinic’s agreed date as the one you follow.

How we calculate it

Due date = embryo transfer date + 266 days − embryo age in days. For a day-3 embryo, that means 263 days after transfer. For a day-5 embryo, it means 261 days. Pregnancy weeks include the conventional two weeks before fertilisation.

This is calendar dating only. It doesn’t measure embryo development, calculate success chances or decide when you should test.

A worked example

A day-5 embryo transferred on 1 October 2026 gives an estimated due date of 19 June 2027. A day-3 embryo transferred on the same date gives 21 June 2027.

Your questions, answered

How is an IVF due date calculated?

We add 263 days to a day-3 transfer, or 261 days to a day-5 transfer. This accounts for the embryo’s age within the usual 40-week pregnancy calendar.

Does a frozen transfer change the calculation?

No. Use the transfer date and embryo age your clinic specifies. Time in storage is not added to pregnancy weeks.

What if I had a day-6 embryo transfer?

Ask your clinic which embryo age and due date to use. This tool supports day-3 and day-5 dating only; it does not guess how your clinic dates other transfers.

Can I use a planned transfer date?

Yes, for planning. The result cannot predict implantation, a positive test or the outcome of treatment. Once your clinic gives you an agreed due date, use that for your care and pregnancy weeks.
